Our First Lady
First Lady Mayo
First Lady Karen Mayo is the younger of the two daughters to the Late Pastor Henry and First Lady Carrie Knight. Lady Karen was born in Los Angeles, attended local public schools in the neighborhood near the GTLT Ministry, and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, has a full-time career as the first and only female African-American Vice President of a very prestigious non-profit organization in Los Angeles County. She enjoys having fun and relaxing by playing tennis, crocheting, indoor roller skating, cooking and baking for her family. She accepted the Lord at the tender age of five years old and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of eight.
Prior to joining the GTLT Church, Karen attended West Angeles COGIC, where the Knight family faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop C.E. Blake for more than 23 years. Supported the West Angeles ministry over the years by serving in many capacities: Sunday School secretary, Children’s Church coordinator and teacher, Youth Usher Board member, Purity member, Vacation Bible School teacher, and Sanctuary Choir member and director. Lady Karen has always had great appreciation for gospel music. For many years, Lady Karen was the youngest member of the West Angeles Sanctuary choir, where she sang first soprano and lead choir songs. Lady Karen was blessed to participate in three West Angeles studio recordings and worked and sang with some of the finest musical talent in the world: Doug Lambert, Keith Pringle, Lonnie Morgan, the Clark Sisters, Mahalia Jackson (at the age of 5), Stevie Wonder (Songs in the Key of Life), Patrick Henderson, and Howard McCrary.
